AGES 7-12
ENGINEERING IN MINECRAFT - 9:00am-12:00pm
Let’s have some fun blending gaming and engineering! In this workshop, students are introduced to Minecraft circuit building and engineering concepts using Redstone. They will implement the Engineering Design Process as they design, build, and refine electrical contraptions within the Minecraft world.

ITERATIVE GAME DESIGN - 1:00pm-4:00pm
Iterative game design is the process by which a video game is proposed, designed, prototyped, and play tested before releasing the final product to the public. In this workshop, students will have the opportunity to experience a key stage of this process called quality assurance. They will play a pre-made game and identify the inconsistencies, errors or bugs within the game. Once identified, they will adjust variables and implement additional code to improve gameplay.

Ages 13-17
GAME LEVEL FLOW DESIGN - 9:00am-12:00pm
Level Flow refers to how players naturally move through a game level. Players are affected by the navigability of the environment and item placement. In this workshop, students will learn the difference between Good Flow and Bad Flow design and will create a game level incorporating Flow level design methods to create the desired feel, sensation, and smoothness of player movement within a game.

GAME ASSET CREATION - 1:00pm-4:00pm
A game asset is any resource used in the development of a video game, such as 3D models, textures, sound effects, and music. In this workshop, students will learn the different types of game assets and how the genre, style, and scope of a game project will determine the specific assets needed for a game. Using industry-leading software, they will create a visual art game asset and will apply research and reference to their design.
