

Women's Self Defense Class
Women's STAR (Safety Tactics and Awareness Response) Program
The Seminole County Sheriff's Office is pleased to offer a unique safety and empowerment self-defense program, designed to educate women on how they can protect themselves by increasing their situational awareness an maximizing their safety potential.
The program is offered once a month and is three hours in length. Both Part 1 and Part 2 are completed within the same time frame. These classes are held at the Seminole County Sheriff’s Office Training Center only.
Part 1
One hour is dedicated to Part 1 and the purpose of this session is to teach participants the mindset of minimizing the risk of becoming a victim. The method of instruction is instructional with limited physical activity. Participants under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult.
Part 2
Upon competition of Part 1, Part 2 is two hours in length and mainly physical. This session is instructed by SCSO certified Defensive Tactics instructors that are FDLE certified. The maximum is 15 participants. This class requires an ample amount of physical activity; participants must come dressed in comfortable exercise attire, and bring plenty of water. Both of these classes are currently open to women only. Participants under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult. There is no charge to attend.
