Swedish immigrants began arriving in the United States in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, with some settling in Seminole County. Their heritage is still seen today in both their descendants and in place names around Seminole County.
The St. Lucia Festival is a Swedish tradition celebrated on December 13, featuring a procession of young girls dressed as St. Lucia, wearing a crown of candles and singing traditional songs to herald the arrival of the Christmas season. Check out this traditional festival at the Museum!
