Wednesdays | June 11 - July 23 | 11 a.m. - 12 p.m. & 2 - 3 p.m. | Ages 5 - 12
This program invites kids to discover the natural world and continue learning throughout the summer. Each week features a themed arts and crafts project and a curated selection of books and movies that encourage exploration and reflection. Note: No session July 2.
Reading Buddies | June 11
Participants will make two special reading buddies to take along on summer adventures! Be sure to bring your Reading Buddies to each Summer Reading Challenge event and track their travels in a special “passport.”
Kindness Quilts | June 18
This week is all about connection. Just like the memories that link friends and family, kids will join cloth squares together to create a Kindness Quilt. No sewing or crafting experience is needed.
Making Fireworks Work | June 25
Discover what makes fireworks really work! Learn the history and science behind them, create colorful salty firework art and watch an amazing “fireworks in a jar” demonstration that shows how these dazzling displays light up the Fourth of July.
The Bee’s Knees | July 9
Get ready to buzz with excitement! Kids will explore the world of bees—nature’s top pollinator—by crafting paper bees, collecting Cheeto “pollen” and testing how much they can carry in flight.
Agamograph Art | July 16
Now you see me, now you don’t! Learn how animals like butterflies use camouflage and optical illusions to stay safe. Participants will create colorful butterfly agamograph art that hides in plain sight.
Bird Feeder Bowls & Butterfly Release | July 23
Celebrate our vibrant community! Make bird feeders, witness a butterfly release and take home a milkweed kit to raise your own butterflies. Don’t forget to bring your completed reading challenge sheet to earn a prize-filled goodie bag.
