Healthy Start Coalition of Seminole County

Healthy Start Coalition of Seminole County is a nonprofit organization incorporated in 2014. Our aim is to mobilize our community to create and sustain a system of care to improve the health of childbearing families and promote school readiness for our youngest citizens. Healthy Start Coalition of Seminole County sees families and communities working together so that babies blossom and families flourish. By doing this, we will ensure every woman, baby and family is connected to local resources.

Services
Connect Program
Through universal screenings, Connect identifies needs and links families to the programs that best serve them. This coordinated intake and referral process ensures the best fit for families and streamlines access to services. At the same time, it improves program enrollment and retention rates, reduces duplication of efforts and builds a broader early childhood system of care in Florida.

Healthy Start Program
The Healthy Start program is available to all pregnant women and mothers with infants in Seminole County. This program is voluntary and eligibility is not based on financial factors. A free health screening is provided at your first visit with a doctor or at the hospital after your baby is born.

Team Dad Program
In America, nearly 18.5 million children (25%) grow up without their fathers. Many new fathers struggle to figure out their role when their wife or partner has a baby. Our new fatherhood program offers education, training, and support to help men become the responsible, engaged, and empowered fathers their children need them to be.


Fetal Infant Mortality Review (FIMR)
FIMR (Fetal Infant Mortality Review) is a community-oriented process that reviews the circumstances surrounding a fetal or infant death to improve maternal and infant health outcomes.
A multidisciplinary community team examines confidential, de-identified cases of fetal and infant deaths. Reviews help teams understand the “how” and “why” surrounding a death to prevent future deaths.


The mission of the Healthy Start Coalition of Seminole County is to ensure a system of care that offers all families access to prenatal care and all infants access to services that promote optimal growth and development.
Our team understands that sometimes it takes a village to help a family. For this reason, we have created a list of resources that can help a family with needs during pregnancy and after baby is born.
