 on.  \n\nThe course begins in front of the Historic Sanctuary at First Unit
 ed Methodist Church and follows the Cross Seminole Trail for and out and ba
 ck distance of either a 5k or 10k.  The Kids' Fun Run is under a mile, alon
 g the beautiful canopied road.\n\nEach year, The Rising has raised thousand
 s of dollars to be put back into our local charities, like HopeHelps, Inc. 
 and The Oviedo Preservation Project.  The area schools are encouraged to si
 gn up as teams to win grants for the largest schools in attendance.  Your r
 egistration helps fund our mission of giving.  \n\nCash awards are given to
  the top 3 male and female finishers for the 5k and 10k distances.  Finishe
 rs awards and age group winners (5 year increments) are also given and a su
 re to be worth running for.\n\nThe Oviedo Run Club is committed to putting 
 on a green event, which entails the use of compostable water cups, on site 
 recycling and race packets that are full of useable items, not to be wasted
 .
