SUMMER SHARKS

Come join Trinity Prep Aquatics for Summer Sharks! This program is designed for children who are still learning the fundamentals and strokes of swimming and who love being in the water. Summer Sharks is available for swimmers ages 5 to 12 and encourages and develops passion for swimming in a safe and fun environment!

Summer Sharks is split into three groups. The introduction to swimming group focuses on the basics of floating, strokes, and increasing comfort in the water. The middle group centers around learning all four strokes, turns, and diving. The top group teaches all four strokes and refines new and existing technique.

Summer Sharks will be directed by members of the TPA staff and assisted by in-water volunteers who are swimmers from the TPA program or from Trinity Preparatory School. The members of TPA staff are lifeguard, CPR, and AED certified and the volunteers are experienced and accomplished swimmers. All of the staff and volunteers are looking forward to having a great summer at the pool!

2024 Summer Sharks runs June 4 to July 18  on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm culminating in an end-of-summer swim meet at Trinity Prep. We encourage the swimmers to attend as many practices as they want to! All members of the Sharks program will receive a team t-shirt. The cost of the program for the whole summer is $200.

Summer Sharks  FAQ

Does my swimmer have to attend everyday?

No, TPA recognizes we are just part of your summer plans that include vacations and other activities therefore do not require daily attendance.  We offer sessions three times a week and we encourage swimmers to attend when they can.

My 4 year old is a great swimmer, can he/she participate in summer sharks?

Our experience as coaches is that 5 year olds have developed the neuromuscular skills necessary to teach them the proper stroke techniques. That is why we begin our programming at 5 years old. We offer swim lessons, both private and small group, for those younger than 5 years old at other times during the day.

Does TPA pro-rate if we aren’t able to come every week?

Our rate covers the cost of coaches, supplies and other items that help make our summer program successful.  We do not offer a discount or refund if a family’s summer plan changes

What are ‘practices” like?

We offer three groups during the sessions

  1. Makos:  Our youngest/newest swimmers who are working on the basics of swimming.  Our first few weeks we will be in the water for approximately 30 minutes and build from there

  1.  Tiger Sharks:  Our more advanced swimmers who have basic freestyle skills and some knowledge of other strokes.  They are comfortable in the water and can kick/swim repeated laps

Our first few weeks we will be in the water for approximately 45 minutes and build from there

  1.  Hammerheads:  Swimmers in this group have proficiency in all four strokes and are looking to improve those skills through the summer.

This group practices the full hour throughout the summer.

What should my swimmer bring with them to summer sharks?

A swimsuit, towel and a good pair of goggles.  Goggles are one of the most important items a swimmer should have. They need to fit well and not leak.  We encourage parents to purchase goggles at a sports store to ensure proper fit on your swimmer.  One of the most frustrating experiences a swimmer can have is a leaky pair of goggles.

There is an end of the season meet, I don’t think my child is ready for competition, should they participate?

Yes!  Think of the meet as a fun run.  We simulate an actual meet with swimmers being able to race a lap of the pool in a variety of events including a kickboard 25.  They receive a ribbon at the end of the race and lots of cheering throughout.  This is one of the most fun events we offer throughout the year!  Treats after the meet for everyone
