SERVICES

Dental Hygiene: Each time you have your teeth cleaned, in addition to the thorough cleaning, polishing and examination of your teeth, we also take the time to assist our patients by developing habits and routines they can use at home to keep their teeth healthy. Dr. Trinh will also make suggestions for preventative measures such as fluoride, sealants or night guards (to help with TMJ problems). If it is determined that you are suffering from gingivitis or a more severe gum disease, we may recommend Root Planning and Scaling (RPS) to help prevent bone loss and help you keep your teeth. RPS is a non-surgical procedure that removes plaque and tartar that is below the gum line. Root surfaces are cleaned and smoothed. It is crucial that plaque and tartar be removed from the pockets below the gum line. Removing the bacterial toxins that cause gum irritation will help keep your teeth and gums healthier.

Whitening: We offer In-office Whitening and  At Home Whitening Trays. In-office whitening: the procedure takes about 1 to 1.5 hours to complete.  At-home Whitening: we will take impressions of your mouth and utilize them to make soft, customized mouth trays for you. The whitening gel is placed in your trays and worn 30 minutes a day for one to three weeks until the level of whitening you want is achieved. For best results, a routine teeth cleaning and oral exam are recommended prior to whitening and all oral health issues should be addressed before you start the process.

Bridges: Used to replace one or more missing teeth, is a combination of crowns and an artificial tooth or teeth. Bridges are dental structures that are cemented in place and cannot be removed.

Crowns: Often referred to as “caps”, can be made from porcelain or a combination of porcelain and metal. They are cemented to your original tooth and can last for years. Crowns are used to restore:

-Badly decayed teeth

-Broken or chipped teeth

-Severely discolored teeth

-Misaligned teeth

Fillings: When decay has eaten away at a tooth, a hole remains. When the dentist fills this hole produced by decay, a “filling” is placed. Today there are two types of fillings, silver (amalgam) fillings and white (composite) fillings. Dr. Trinh prefers to place composite fillings. After your tooth is filled, it is not uncommon to feel some sensitivity. The tooth may be sensitive to pressure, air, sweet foods, heat or cold. In most cases, the sensitivity should subside in a few weeks. Until then, try to avoid anything that causes sensitivity. If your tooth is extremely sensitive, please contact our office.

Dental bonding: is an option that can be considered:

-To repair decayed, chipped or cracked teeth

-To improve the appearance of discolored teeth

-To close spaces between teeth

-To make teeth look longer

-As a cosmetic alternative to amalgam fillings

-To protect a portion of the tooth’s root that has been exposed when gums recede

Extraction: Dr. Trinh may determine it is necessary to extract your tooth. There are a number of reasons why a tooth might need to be extracted. Some of them could be that yours are severely decayed, you may have advanced periodontal disease, your tooth has broken in a way that it cannot be repaired, or in preparation for the orthodontic treatment.

Root canal: Treatment to repair and save a badly damaged or infected tooth. The procedure involves removing the damaged area of the tooth (the pulp), cleaning and disinfecting it and then filling and sealing it. The common causes affecting the pulp are a cracked tooth, a deep cavity, repeated dental treatment to the tooth or trauma.

Full denture: When you lose some or all of your teeth, a denture can be used to help restore a natural appearance and function for eating and talking. Dentures can have a metal or plastic framework. A full denture is the normal treatment for a patient without any teeth. Sometimes patients have difficulty adapting to them as they are held in place by a relatively weak forces when compared to real teeth. When you lose teeth, the bone that supported them resorbs over time;  this leads to problems later as dentures and partials may start to feel lose. Your face may start to appear sunken and eating may become more difficult. Relining the denture will eliminate the discomfort.

Partial denture: Is used to replace missing teeth. The framework can be acrylic or metal. Acrylic framework is less costly. However, a metal framework is more comfortable, provides a better fit and is sturdier.

Sealants: a thin, plastic coating applied to the chewing surface of molars, premolars and any deep grooves. A sealant can be applied to protect the tooth by sealing the deep grooves and creating a smooth surface that is easy to clean surface. Sealants can protect teeth from decay for many years, but still need to be checked for wear and chipping at routine dental visits.
